Kelly Morgan Lott, 57, passed away peacefully in his home after battling cancer on Monday, August 5th, with his loving family by his side.
Kelly spent most of his life in Kingsport, attending both Dobyns-Bennett High School and East Tennessee State University, where he led the SigEp intramural team to the championships and made lifelong friends. As his friends and family know, Kelly poured passion into everything he did, as demonstrated by his love of biking, fishing and golfing. After maintaining a successful career as a neurological surgical consultant for several years, Kelly embraced his entrepreneurial spirit in 2022 and opened the Swing Lab at Ridgefields, where he channeled his love of golf into teaching others. One business, however, wasn’t enough for Kelly as he embarked on a second venture last year to open up RidgeRunners Gas and Goods in Nickelsville, Virginia, which has been embraced by the local community. The family intends to maintain both businesses in Kelly’s memory.
Kelly was preceded in death by his father, Otis Vernon Lott, Jr.; stepmother, Sue Lott; and mother, Diana Depew.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Gina Lott; children, Matthew and Mattie Lott; sister, Jennifer Lott Miller; brothers-in-law, Jeff Miller and Jon Humphries; mother-in-law, Eleanor Humphries; nieces and nephews, Rachel Miller, Alexis, Emerson, and Kannan Humphries. Additionally, he is survived by his uncle, Jim Lott; aunt, Becky Ginsburg; and cousins, Mary Evans Lott, Emily Miller, William Lott, Boyd Purdy and Eric Purdy.
The family will receive friends from 3pm – 6pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
