Ken Wooden

Ken Wooden, 81, of Church Hill, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

Ken was an associate at Wal-Mart where he met some of his dearest friends. He was a caring and giving person. Ken was the world's greatest dad and grandfather who loved his grandchildren deeply. He was loved by all he met.

Ken served his country in the United States Navy where he was ranked as a Chief Master Petty Officer. He was stationed in Korea.

He played AAA baseball with the Pittsburg Pirates.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Wooden; parents, Aubrey and Mildred Wooden; brother, Ray Wooden.

Survivors include his son, Marc Wooden and wife Kimberly also known as his daughter, of Kingsport; daughter, Dana Alcorn and husband Mike of Arizona; five grandchildren, Lucas, Nathaniel, Jordan, Mattie and Ryan; four sisters, Fran, Donna, Bev, and Judy; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 8:00 pm Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
