Kenneth Ralph Bowyer

Kenneth R. Bowyer, 75, Kingsport, TN, went to be the Lord on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at his home in the presence of his family.

He was born May 28, 1932, in Pax, West Virginia, and retired from Mineral Pigment Corporation in Laurel, Maryland. Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany and Korea during the Korean Conflict.

Ken was a fine guitarist and enjoyed playing gospel music. He was a member of Family Life Center.

His wife, Ellen Hicks Bowyer June 26, 2006; son, Kenneth R. Bowyer, Jr.; and his parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his daughter, Catherine Witherwax, Jacksonville, FL; son, Charles A. Bowyer and wife Jan, Laurel, MD; three stepdaughters, Faye Bailey and husband Mike, Patricia Robinette and husband Harold, and Trina Arnold; three stepsons, James Jim Hicks and wife Linda, Jackie Hicks and wife Patty, all of Kingsport, TN; and Del Arnold and wife, Romona, Denver, CO; five sisters, Roberta Ruhl and husband John, Elyria, OH; Aretta Lilly and husband Archie, Silver Springs, MD; Stella Hamm and husband Jimmie, Glouster, VA; Loretta Murphy and husband Bill, Charlottesville, VA; and Patty G. Booth, Gate City, VA; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Willis and Pastor Greg Street officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 3/265.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
