Kenneth James Garland, 79, entered into rest Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a native of Unicoi County and the son of George and Pansy Garland. Kenneth had a great love for farming and attended Oak Hill Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were one sister, Mable Garland; and three brothers, Hugh Garland, Steward Garland, and Phil Garland.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Garland, Fall Branch; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael G. and Penny Garland, Unicoi; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Martin Laws, Limestone, Hope and Roger Banner, Unicoi, and Holly Gregg, Greeneville; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert ?Bob? and Grace Garland, Unicoi; one sister, Leona M. Garland, Unicoi; sisters-in-law, Betty Garland, Unicoi, and Norma Garland, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Travis and Lisa Garland, Emily and Brian Paul, Ashley Banner, Bart Gaby, and Sarah Gaby; two step-grandchildren, Krista and Destiny; sisters-in-law, Naomi and Ezra McConnell, Fayetteville, NC, Gladys and James Berry, Gate City, VA, Ruby Mays, Kingsport, Nancy and Dean Odiorne, Kingsport; and brothers-in-law, Bill and Linda Pierson, Gate City, VA, Robert and Marion Carney, Kingsport, and Larry and Ann Shively, Kingsport.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joe M. Baker and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Steve Fitzgerald, Roger Banner, Martin Laws, Gene Garland, Bart Gaby, Robert Carney, and Travis Garland.
