Kenneth "Ken" Spangler

Kenneth “Ken” Spangler, age 79, of Blountville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, September 7, 2024 at the Hospice House in Bristol. 

He was born in San Francisco, California on October 21, 1944 and married Laurie Suzanne Johnson on July 25, 1992 in Clarkston, Michigan. Ken was a member of First Baptist Church of St. James City, Florida. Ken received his master’s degree and retired from GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 32 years, Laurie Suzanne Spangler; daughters, Jackie Hawkins (Richard), Jennifer Lively (Todd), and Julie Taylor (Beau); son, Jonathan Banks; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 10 -12 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Josh Banks officiating. Burial will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans National Foundation, 4601 Forbes Blvd. – Suite #130, Lanham, MD 20706.
