Kenneth "Skip" Lemons

Kenneth J. "Skip" Lemons, 79, Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Brookhaven Manor following a period of declining health.

Born in Kingsport on October 6, 1936, a son of the late Jerome and Ruby Lemons, he had resided in this area his entire life. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1957.
Skip was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from J.P. Stevens following 25 years of service. He loved to attend flea markets, auctions, garage and yard sales, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw, and friend.

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Devin Copas.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Lemons; one son, Craig (Kristin) Lemons, Kingsport; two daughters, Kay (Mike) Trent and Susan (Ricky) Copas; eight grandchildren, Amanda Copas, Kim Copas, Brian (Kelli) Trent, Darin (Paige) Trent, Derek (Dani) Trent, Dillon Lemons, Shane Lemons, Justin Lemons; two great-grandchildren, Jada Copas and Oliver Trent; and faithful K-9 companion, Rusty.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. The service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Donnie Brannen and Rev. John Coates officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those attending committal services are asked to meet at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Skip's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Brookhaven Manor and Amedisys Hospice for all the kindness extended to Skip.
