Kermit W. Allen passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Kermit was employed with Mason-Dixon Trucking Lines for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He was of the Baptist faith. Kermit was a member of the American Legion Post #3.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Toots" McCann Allen; parents, Andrew C. Allen and Liddie Allen; four sisters, Mable Allen Poe, Clara Allen Moffitt, Cecile Allen Bellamy and Velma Allen Begley; and three brothers, Andy J. Allen, Ralph H. Allen and Paul Eugene Allen.
Kermit is survived by special niece, Donna Seaver; several other nieces and nephews; special friend, Mary Haynes; and special neighbors, Rhonda and Jerry.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 9th at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Ball and Rev. Jerry Webb officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts #3/265. Those wishing to attend the service need to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
