Kermit Ray Crawford, 84, of the Fall Branch community, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Kermit was a member and deacon at Oak Glen Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason of Johnson Masonic Lodge #274 in Fall Branch. Kermit was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Sunday School Teacher, Scout Leader, a barber in his community and retired from Tennessee Eastman. Kermit enjoyed fishing and hunting, training bird dogs and loved his faithful dog, Blackie.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Iona Crawford; sister, Helen and Ova Lee Hite; brothers, Raymond and Vita Crawford, Austin and Margaret Crawford, and Robert and Jenny Bell Crawford; sister-in-law, Juanita Crawford; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Frank and Velma “Tommy” Broome; brother-in-law, James Thomas Broome; and loving niece, Linda Crawford Powers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rena Sue Broome Crawford; his children, Rena Diane Crawford and Kermit Daniel “Danny” Crawford; grandchildren, Brandon and Allie Cross, Nicholas Cross, James “Tristian” Gibson, Joshua Crawford and Paige Rust, Nicole and Tim Neeley, Amber Crawford and Harrison Williams; great-grandchildren, Ryan Michael and Kaylee Cross, and Grayson, Bryson and Mason Neeley; brothers, Bill Crawford, Charles and Mona Crawford, Jack and Linda Crawford, John Crawford and Brenda Clark, and Jerry Crawford; sisters, Wanda Faye and J.W. Forbes of Maryland and Blanch Lightner; sister-in-law, Phyllis Broome; loving friend, Janice Cobb; many loved family members and lifelong friends.
A special thanks to all the caregivers that took care of our family.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Masonic Rites by Johnson Masonic Lodge #274, Fall Branch and with Pastor David Salley and Pastor Truman Ferguson officiating.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Oak Glen Community Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
