BOLD PRINT: Kermit Dykes
Kermit Dykes, 46, of Beech Creek, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 10, 2007, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Kingsport and lived his entire life in the Beech Creek community. Kermit enjoyed racing cars, raising horses, and farming. He was a loving husband, father, and brother, and will be missed by those who loved him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bud Dykes and Betty Jo Dykes; a sister, Geneva Dykes; his first wife, Debbie Benton Dykes, and a brother-in-law, Scotty Light.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Dykes; two daughters, Christy Dykes and fiancé, Lorne Loucel, and Brittany Dykes; a stepson, Dustin Crouch and fiancée, Hollie Fletcher; four sisters, Reba Light and husband, Junior, Ruby Bernard and husband, Dallas, Juanita Dykes Light, Sherry Dykes; one brother, Stanley Dykes; several nieces and nephews; and two great-nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Teddy Webb and Pastor Pete Smith officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lorne Loucel, J. R. Light, Greg Brewer, Joey Brewer, and Dustin Crouch.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Wellmont Hospice nurses, especially Misty Puckett.
