Kermit Morelock

Kermit Morelock, 81, Beech Creek Community, was called home Monday afternoon, November 2, 2015. Kermit was born in Beech Creek where he had lived for most of his life. Kermit was a retired employee of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home where he worked for more than 50 years. He was of the Baptist Faith. Kermit loved people and loved to trade.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Shelton; sister, Edith Adams; and nephew Billy Joe Morelock.

Kermit is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Morelock; children, Stan Morelock and wife, Teresa of Moline, IL, Kimithea Smith and husband, Lanny of Rogersville, Shawna Morelock and Lester of Rogersville, and Todd Morelock and wife, Rachael of Rogersville; grandchildren, Amy Hunter, Christy Shelton, Tiffany Masengarb, Melissa Shelton, Kara Shelton, Toby and Lance Morelock, Jamie Light, Dustin Light, Jeremy Light, Kaleb, Carter, Eli, and Grant Morelock; great-grandchildren, Preston Morelock, Charles Lang, Wesley Pigéon, Alex and Siera, Keegan, Jacob, and Nate Light, Jacob, Samantha and Heather Hunter, Isaac and Seamus Boyle, Lyla Swanson, Zachary Shelton and Austin Deshazier; two great-great-grandchildren, McKenzie Hunter and Brynley Brower; three sisters, Belle Marie Arnold of Rogersville, Polly Tester of Church Hill, and Shirley Pyle of Kingsport; brother, Ed Morelock and wife, Barbara of Rogersville; special nephew, John "Punkin" Morelock; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Keith Williams and Rev. Danny Dolen officiating .

The graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 10:00 am at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Grandsons and other family members will serve as pallbearers.
