Kermit Peters, 72, of the Bloomingdale Community in Kingsport, died Friday morning, December 17, 2010 at Asbury Place in Johnson City after an extended illness. Born in Scott County, VA he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Kermit was a farmer, school bus driver and retired from Alley s Motor Company. He was a member of Hilltop Mission Church.
Kermit was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Guy Peters; second wife, Fannie Jane Ferguson Peters; parents, John and Laura Peters; brother, Cecil Peters; grandparents, Linda and Chris Lyons; and uncle, Elbert Lyons.
Survivors include two sisters, Shelby Jean Williams and husband, Fate of Blountville, Janice Peters and husband, Dewey of Fairview; two brothers, J.C. Peters and wife, Shirley of Peoria, IL, Willie Peters and wife, Lena of Gray; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Rev. Dennis H. Spears and Rev. Benny Spears officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following.
The graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Hilltop Mission Church Cemetery.
