Kim Steven Chamberlin, 60, of Kingsport passed away Friday, November 16, 2012.
Born and raised in Midland, Michigan, he was a graduate of Michigan State University and earned a PhD in Chemistry. Kim moved to Kingsport in 1979 where he worked as a chemist for Eastman Chemical Company until his retirement in 2011. After retirement, he worked briefly as an adjunct professor at East Tennessee State University and Northeast State Technical Community College until he became ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie Chamberlin.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Chamberlin; son, John Steven Chamberlin and wife Sarah of Atlanta; daughter, Tamara Leslie Chamberlin of Madison, WI; grandson, Henry Scott Chamberlin; brother, John Clark Chamberlin of Fremont, CA; and sister, Barbara Chamberlin Lien of Tampa, FL.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mickey Rainwater officiating.
