Kittie Mae Ketron Bowman, 98, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 07, 2016, just as she wished, with loving family present. She was the 6th of 10 siblings to Russell J. and Ida Belle Ketron. Kittie was married to the late Joseph Franklin Bowman for 62 precious years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend.
Kittie Mae was a graduate of Blountville High School and ETSU. She was a lifelong member of Kingsley United Methodist Church. She taught fifth grade at Colonial Heights and Rock Springs Elementary. Kittie Mae enjoyed the gift of friendship, she was generous to all, and had a great sense of humor. She also loved knowing and serving the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Joe, her parents Russell J. and Ida Belle Ketron, two sisters and six brothers.
Surviving are her sister, Lochie Bryan; her daughter, Kathryn Phillips; grandchildren, Paula Franklin, Laurie Neville, Marc Phillips, Lisa Starnes and Daniel Phillips; six great-grandchildren; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers and the caring staff of Amedysis Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3:00 pm at Kingsley United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Adam Love officiating. The entombment service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
