L. Blanche Fox Felts, 88, of Fall Branch, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, June 4, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Born to Wylie and Eliza Fox of Greene County on May 2, 1921, she was the oldest of three children. Blanche worked for Mead Corporation until her marriage to her husband Frank. They had five children, Shirley, Jerry, Janeene, Terry and Lesia.
She loved working in her garden, flowers, and also babysitting her grandchildren and treating them to very special desserts that only she could create. She was a very precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were her parents Wylie and Eliza Fox; son, Jerry Felts; brothers, Olan Fox and Gregg Foxx; and granddaughter, Tammy McNew.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Frank Felts; son, Terry Felts, Fall Branch; daughters, Shirley Hall and husband Jerry, Kingsport, Janeene McNew and husband James, Fall Branch, and Lesia Felts Elliott, Fall Branch; grandchildren, David Hall and wife Renee, Knoxville, Amy Skeen and husband Andy, Knoxville, Joe Felts, Pennsylvania, Lori Loftis and husband Arnold, Baileyton, Kim Boose and husband Chuck, Indiana, Amanda Felts, Kingsport, Jennifer Hensley and husband Gary, Kingsport. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Foxx, Fall Branch and Edna Lane, Kingsport.
Mrs. Felts was a member of Lovelace Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support during Blanche's illness and passing. Very special thanks to Shelby, Glenna, Teresa and Denise of Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Jerry Hall officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery, Fall Branch.
Pallbearers will be Joe Felts, David Hall, James McNew, Arnold Loftis, Andy Skeen, Gary Hensley, Chuck Boose and Lonnie Foxx. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McCrary, Donnie Foxx, Stanley Foxx and Gary Asbury.
