Lance Compton

Lance Compton, 41, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Born in Kingsport, he had resided here most of his life. Lance was a graduate of Sullivan North High School and an honors graduate of Belmont University in Nashville. He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church. Lance traveled the world extensively and had never met a stranger. He had a great interest in the arts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benny Compton; grandparents, John and Marie Compton, and Judge and Della Hunley; two uncles, Kenneth Hunley and Ronald Jones.

Lance is survived by his mother, Peggy Compton Grogg and husband, Harold; uncle, John Allen Compton and wife, Delores; two aunts, Nina Oaks and husband Richard, and Lillian Jones, all of Kingsport; several cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 8:00 pm with Rev. Raymond Amos and Rev. Joe Barber officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.
