On November 25, 1925, Lang Eddins, Jr. was born to the late Annie Olive Eddins and Lang Sidney Eddins. He died on Monday, October 31, 2016, at the age of 90.
Born and raised in Durham, NC, he graduated from Durham High as a member of the War Class of 1943. Upon graduation at age 17, he enlisted in the Navy. Assigned to a mine sweeper, he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets. He achieved the rating of Petty Officer First Class.
Honorably discharged in 1946, Lang married Clemith McNutt Eddins, to whom he was wed 69 years. Employed by Sears Roebuck in 1947, he was a faithful employee for 40 years and eight months. He was recalled to the Navy for the Korean War in 1950, serving in the mothball fleet in Green Cove Springs, FL. He received a commendation for his part in the recommissioning of 100 ships. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 2108, American Legion, and D.A.V. Returning to Sears in 1952, he was soon transferred to New Orleans where he served in various positions until 1988. Lang and his wife moved to Kingsport, TN in 2001 to be near their daughter and family.
From cradle roll to his death, he was a Baptist all of his life and a member of the Koinonia Class at First Baptist Church Kingsport. Blessed throughout his life, Lang's legacy is leaving loving families who love the Lord and serve Him well.

He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia McElroy and husband, Dr. Drew, Linda Kern and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Matt Kern and wife, Helen, Trey McElroy, and Chris McElroy.
The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Kingsport with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
