Lanis Lee Taylor, 60, of Kingsport, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on July 1, 2010, following a brief illness.
A native of Dickenson County, Virginia he has been a resident of Kingsport for the last 37 years. A graduate of Ervinton High School, Highlands Community College, he then graduated at the top of the first class of NAVE Academy. Lanis worked for Holston Valley Hospital for the last 38 years as an X-Ray and CT Technician. He was the first certified CT Tech in East Tennessee. An accomplished golfer, he often played at Graysburg Hills Country Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emma Lambert Taylor and brother in law, Merle Lear.
Surviving are one sister, Barbara Carmella Lear, Kpt; three brothers, Jim Taylor and wife Pat, Vonore, TN, Ronald "Toad" Taylor and wife Tina, Church Hill, C. Gray Taylor and wife Evelyn, Fall Branch; five nephews, Greg, Steve, Michael, David and Jonathan; five nieces, Tami, Phoebe, Christy, Linda and Jessica; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral Service will follow at 8pm with Rev. Perry Cleek officiating.
A family graveside service will be conducted later in Church Hill Memory Gardens.
