Larry Russell Cavin, 77, of Greeneville, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at his residence. Russell was born on June 23, 1947 in Sullivan County. He worked for WKM Construction and was also self-employed for the majority of his career. Russell had a love for the outdoors; he enjoyed tending to his garden and going fishing. Russell proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1965-1972. He was a proud Papaw to all of his grandsons, as well as a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Everett Cavin and Randa Nichole Bledsoe; wife, A. Marlene Cavin; brother, Paul Cavin; sister, Brenda Fish; brother, Gary Cavin; and son, Matt Cavin.
Survivors include his wife of 4 years, Barbara Cavin; daughter, Sandi Grills (Tony) and their children, Caleb Grills (Michaela) and Riley Grills; son, Johnny Cavin and his children, Cory, Brent and Kaiden Cavin; great-grandsons, Blaken Cavin, Bentley Freeman and Dallas Cavin; nephew, Wayne Cavin (Michelle) and daughters, Emily and Ella; niece, Missy Edwards (Mike) and sons, Sean, Jarren and Liam; and special pet, Bear.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery, with Rev. Phillip Free officiating and Military Honors by The American Legion Posts 3/265. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Friends are welcome to visit the homes of Barbara Cavin in Greeneville and Sandi Grills in Kingsport.
