Larry David Copas, 54, Eastern Star Community, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Saturday May 17, 2008 at home due to an apparent heart attack.
Larry was born in Kingsport, where he had lived for most of his life. He worked in construction and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 917.
He was of the Baptist faith. Larry enjoyed auto racing and football.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Verlin Copas in 1977.
Surviving are his mother, Gladys Florine Copas; sister, Candy Burleson and husband, Gary, Kingsport; three brothers, Bill Copas and wife, Diane, Rick Copas and wife, Vickie, and Gary Copas and wife, Beth, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Wanda Eaton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church. A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Nelson and Rev. Charlie Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church, 153 Eastern Star Extension, Kingsport, TN 37663 or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AR 85718.
