Larry "Skip" Davis, 67, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Life
Care Center of Gray. He fought a long, hard battle and the Lord knew he was tired and ready to go home. A native of Kingsport, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Johnson Davis. He loved working on cars and everything about them. Skip was a huge NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and loved watching UT football and Peyton Manning on Sundays. He retired from the City of Kingsport as a mechanic after 20+ years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Billy and Danny.
Skip is survived by three children, Cassandra Hall, Shanan Smith and husband, Michael, and Chris Davis and wife, Kris, and their mother, Sue Davis, all of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Cody Hall, Brandon Hall, Hannah Hall, and their father, Farron Hall and Jacob and Caleb Smith; great-grandson, Braiden Hall; brother, Bobby Davis; aunt, Noreeda Parker; former spouse, Sue Davis; girlfriend, Phyllis Williams; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Church Cemetery.
