Larry Glynn Mitchell, 67, of Kingsport passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 25, 2014.
He was a former welder of Kline Iron and Steel in Columbia, South Carolina, for over 20 years. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran. Larry's favorite hobby was riding his Harley. He also enjoyed fishing.
Larry was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Mitchell; grandparents, Rose and Henry Collins.
Larry is survived by his identical twin brother, Jerry Lynn Mitchell, SFC US Army retired (Special Ops Airborne); his sister, Phyllis Castle; and various nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He had many special friends he leaves behind.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Cecil Sturgill officiating, a eulogy by Joe Robinette, and special music by Michael Lane and David Hedrick of Columbia, SC, a long-time friend.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Pallbearers will be Darrel Summer, Jeff Summer, Roger Musson, Chuck Morelock, Joe Haynie, and Randy Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Sanders, Charlie Hyder, Harvey Goldman, Mike Terry, David Hedrick, David Collins, Daniel Collins, Jeff Collins and Jerry Collins.
