Larry Rowland, 70, passed away October 2 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brave battle with lung cancer. Larry was born on April 16, 1941 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Merle and Helen Rowland. He worked at ITT North Electric for 27 years as an inspector and supervisor. Larry was also employed at Columbus Electric and retired from TPI in Gray, TN.
He was a gifted woodworker, enjoyed gardening, working outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events. Larry always had a positive outlook on life and a friendly nature. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Larry was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 50 years, Betty, and sister, Doris Jones of Strongsville, Ohio.
He is survived by his children Karry and husband Bill Troutman and Jeff and wife Julianne Rowland; four grandchildren, Tyler and Nicole Troutman and Samuel and Sara Rowland. Larry is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Starner of Bucyrus, Ohio and Norma Baker of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; brother Kenneth Rowland of Kingsport, TN; many nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Betty Rowland RN scholarship fund c/o Wellmont Foundation, HVH & MC, 151 Ravine Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
