LaRue Baldwin Pannell, 70, went to her heavenly home at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a long illness.
LaRue was born in Wise, VA on January 1, 1937, moving to Kingsport at an early age, and graduated from Lynn View High School. She was a person who loved to laugh and was a talented member of the Society of Decorative Painters. LaRue enjoyed all of her artist club friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edward P. and Beulah Baldwin; her sister, Dina Lee Satterfield; and a special niece, Tamara Todd.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold E. Pannell; her son, Timothy E. Pannell and wife, April; and the pride of her life, her grandson, Dustin E. Pannell of Aiken, S.C. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Helen Swanay and husband, Clabe; Philmenia ?Phil? Todd and husband, E. Ray, all of Kingsport; and Sharon Kaye Johnson and husband, David of Gatlinburg; several special nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
Calling hours are from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with George Osborn officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Clabe Swanay, E. Ray Todd, Stephen Todd, Andrew Todd, Jerry Pannell, and Vance Pannell.
