Laura Bussey

Laura Winifred Bussey, 80, of Blountville, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Karla Cook, in Anderson, SC. She was the widow of Ronald Bussey.

Born in South Haven, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mildred Shaw Tenhopen. She attended Olivet College. Laura was a retired office manager of YMCA Camp Ohiyesa in Highland, Michigan. She enjoyed her breakfast ladies, game day ladies, and her church ladies. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee. Laura always had a smile on her face and was always kind with a tender spirit.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Plank.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Bussey Cook; son, Eric Bussey (Kathy Lezovich); grandchildren, Joseph Bussey, Kevin Cook, Trevor Cook (Lyndsi Laufenberg), and Brianna Cook; and two sisters, Helen Hanes and Alice Warfield.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A reception will follow the service at First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport.
