Laura Susan Cox

Laura Susan Cox, age 53, entered the nearer presence of the Lord on the 17th of April 2008 after a long and valiant struggle against multiple sclerosis. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur H. Stevens, and mother, Laura M. Stevens. She is survived by her husband, Steven Michael Cox, two daughters M. Elizabeth Cox, Bethany Claire Cox, and two brothers, Darryl and David Stevens.

After receiving a B.S. degree in nursing from Emory University, Susan used her considerable gifts and talents to serve all who were around her. So like her Master, she said, "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Mercy and compassion were her meat and drink.

Visitation will be held on Friday the 18th of April from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, 19th of April with Pastor Brent Bradley officiating, as Susan chose to be cremated.

Near and dear to Susan's heart were the orphans of Uganda, and so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given and marked, "The Susan Cox Fund", in care of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 910 Watauga St., Kingsport, TN 37660. The fund will be used entirely for the building of an orphanage in Uganda. Soli Deo Gloria.
