Laura ?Kate? Berry Dalton, 75, of Kingsport, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Margaret Owens.

Mrs. Dalton was born to the late A. E. Berry and Lula Mae Duncan Berry and raised in Fairview, Virginia and moved to Kingsport in 1946. She was of the Baptist faith, was a wonderful mother and grandmother and had been decorated as a loyal volunteer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Daniel H. ?Sonny? Dalton, Jr., sisters, Flora Johnson, Anne Jaynes, Ona Hood, Ruth Gantner, and Maude Dalton; brothers, George Berry, Glen Berry, Jack Berry, Ben Berry and Jake Berry preceded her in death.

Surviving are her special friend, C. R. Payne, Kingsport, TN; daughters, Margaret Owens and husband Dr. Joe H. Owens, Kingsport, TN; and Barbara Gail Palmer, Mountain City, TN; sons, Ronald H. Dalton and wife Rhonda, Kingsport, TN; Darrell S. Dalton and wife Penny; Mt. Carmel, TN; grandchildren, Rachael M. Sams and husband Joshua, Beaumont, TX; Travis Daniel Fleenor, San Francisco, CA; Holden Luke Dalton, Mt. Carmel, TN; David Michael Vaughn, Elizabethton, TN; four great-grandsons, sister, June Williams and husband Harvey Williams, Knoxville, TN; brother, Frank Berry and wife Janet, Spruce Pine, NC; several special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett - Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11am Friday in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Lynis Berry, Joey Jaynes for Joseph Jaynes, Benny Berry, Scott Wolfe, Donnie Wolfe, and Joshua Sams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin J. Dalton, Ronald K. Dalton, and Bill Dingus, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Adventa Hospice-Kingsport, 2612 John B. Dennis Highway, Kingsport, TN 37660.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the John Lawson Surgical Group, Cancer Outreach Associates, and nurses and physicians on the 4th floor at Indian Path Medical Center for their care and compassion.
