Laura Ryan Harris entered the gates of Heaven of May 27, 2011, at Indian Path Hospital into the loving arms of Jesus. Laura had been in declining health for several years.
Laura was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, but moved to Kingsport when she was 6 years old. She later made her home with her daughter and caregiver in Church Hill, Tennessee. Laura had been employed at Borden Mills and later at Woolworths. Laura was of the Baptist faith.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents Irving and Hattie Mabry, sister Nan Dean, brother Will Mabry, first husband George Ryan, second husband Francis Harris, brother-in-law John Dean, and son-in-law Ray Byrd.
Laura is survived by her daughter LaWanda Byrd, granddaughter Vicky Stacy, grandson Don Byrd and wife Theresa and great-granddaughter Kelli Byrd.
The family would like to express their thanks for the special care given by Amedisys of Rogersville, Brookhaven Nursing Home, the staff and doctors of the intensive care unit at Indian Path Hospital, and Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, and anytime at the home of her daughter. The service will begin at 7:00 pm with Rev. Paul Clevinger officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Monday, May 30, 2011.
