Laura Lawson Mounger, 51, of Kingsport, died Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Kingsport, she was a 1986 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Laura was currently employed with Eastman Chemical Company where she worked in procurement for many years. Laura was a member of Rock Heritage Baptist Church and was very active in several children’s ministries throughout the community. She loved helping others, becoming a mother, being a devoted wife, a caring daughter, and a fiercely loyal friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Lawson; brother, John Lawson; grandparents, Reece and Addie Hurd, Guy and Nora Lawson; and uncles, James and Steve Hurd.
Laura is survived by her husband, Justin Mounger; and son, Luke Lawson of the home; mother, Ruth Lawson of Kingsport; lifelong friends, Suzi Hill and Paige Lowe; and cousin, Julie Ashkettle of Blountville.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Entombment services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Chad Eads officiating.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Mini Fibers Farm, 475 Lakeside Dock Drive, Kingsport, TN 37663.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
