LaVerne T. Goodman, 87, Kingsport, left her earthly body to dance with the angels on Friday, March 27, 2009.
Mrs. Goodman was preceded in death by her parents, Lum E. Twilligear and Helen W. Bell; her son, James L. Coffey, Jr.; her husbands, James Leon Coffey, Olin M. Brown and Charles B. Goodman; and her sister, Anita Belle Massey.
Mrs. Goodman is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Kitty and T. A. Smith of Kingsport; grandsons, Kevin Smith and wife Elaina of Atlanta, GA,; Tim Smith and wife Janette of College Station, TX; and Daniel Smith and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, NC; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Noah, Samuel, Kara Anne, Ellie, Tommy and Mckenzie; brother and sister-in-law, Lum and Lee Twilligear of Houston, TX; step-granddaughters, Lori Ferazzi and Leah Lloyd and their families of Pearland and Houston, TX; special friend, Bill Smith of Lake Jackson, TX; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
LaVerne moved from Lake Jackson, Texas to Colonial Hill Retirement Center in Johnson City in 2004, where she made many friends and enjoyed life and activities to the fullest. She was a bright and shining presence to all around her and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 4th from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery at 6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, TX.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel.
Interment will follow the memorial service.
