Lavona Edwards

Lavona Edwards, 64, of Kingsport, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Dante, VA on October 18, 1950, a daughter of the late Paul and Virginia Ruff, she had resided in this area since 1969. She married Rev. Buddy Edwards on July 19, 1969 in Lebanon, VA. Lavona was a member of Church of Jesus Christ for 22 years and the Adult Sunday School Class. She was employed at Food City for 32 years. She was a loving and kind individual who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sons, Ronnie and Donnie Edwards; brother, Bobbie Ruff; and sisters, Nancy Bailey and Brenda Grizzle.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Rev. Buddy Edwards; son, Michael Edwards and wife, Julie of Brown's Mills, NJ; daughter, Christine Edwards and boyfriend, John of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Heather, Joey and Holly; great-granddaughter, Brooke; two brothers, Tim Ruff and wife, Melissa of Cleveland, VA, and Jim Ruff and wife, Kathy of Dante, VA; two sisters, Patsy Dixon and husband, Jimmy of Dante, VA, and Lara McCannon and husband, Kevin of Dante, VA; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mary Jane Crawford and Monnie Gibson and Lou.

A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 pm in Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, VA, with Rev. Howard Edwards officiating. Those attending the committal service are asked to meet at the Cemetery at 12:45 pm.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Kaywood, John Gillenwater, William Kaywood, David Brumett, John Roller, Kevin McCannon, Chandler McCannon and Tommy Kaywood.
