Lee Minton, 81, Duffield, VA, died on Saturday, December 21, 2013.
He was born August 28, 1932, and lived in Kingsport most of his life.
Mr. Minton was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Elsie McCoy Minton; his parents, Pearl and Walter Minton; two sisters, Betty Tilson and Shirley Minton; and two brothers, Bert Minton and Junior Minton.
He is survived by one sister, Lois Thacker of Ridgeway, VA; one brother, Glen Minton of Port Clinton, OH; and two step-sons, Jimmy McCoy and wife, Angela, and Barry McCoy and wife, Judy.
Mr. Minton managed Paul Fleming's Exxon for 30 years and worked for Little and Adams Construction through Eastman for 16 years. He retired in 1995.
He was a disabled veteran who was very proud of his military service. Mr. Minton will be buried with Military Honors at the National Cemetery in Mountain Home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Indian Path medical staff and Brookhaven Nursing Home for all their kindness during his illness.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport, and at the home of Jimmy McCoy at 2509 Overlook Road, Kingsport, TN.
The graveside service will be at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the family for funeral expenses.
