Lee Myers, 86, of Kingsport, went to heaven to join his wife of 64 years, Irene Dixon Myers. Born in Inman, VA he had resided in Big Stone Gap, Virginia for most of his life and had lived in Kingsport for the last 30 years. He had worked for Pet Dairy in Big Stone Gap and Kingsport with 47 years of service. Lee was a Veteran of the U.S. Army in 1945 and 1946, serving as a military police officer. He was an avid golfer, and played billiards, enjoyed fishing, hunting and adult league softball into his 60's. He attended Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Irene Dixon Myers; parents, Annie and Crumley Myers; son, Tommy Lee Myers; 2 brothers, Harold and R.J. Myers; and 2 sisters, Cleo Melton and Betty Lamb.
Lee is survived by 4 sons, David Myers of Cleveland, Ohio, Jerry Myers and fiancée, Tajuana Jones of Pennington Gap, VA, Dan Myers and wife, Pat of San Diego, CA, and Gary Myers and wife, Pat of Austin, TX; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Lamb and husband, Chester of Appalachia, VA; several nieces and nephews; and brother in Christ, Royce Begley.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Mullins officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap Virginia. Military Rites will be by American Legion Posts 3/265.
