Lelbert (Leb) Lee Thornburg, of Gray, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. What Leb preached about for over 55 years, he is now viewing and walking the streets of Heaven with no more sickness or pain. He was the rock of the family and a hero to many. Leb was the son of the late Vergie and Edgar Thornburg and the faithful pastor of Orebank Chapel Central Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dana "Jo" Thornburg; sisters, Charlotte Willis, Reba Melear, Sissy Thornburg, Isabell Willis, Fonda Evans; and brother, Charlie Thornburg.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Terry Thornburg, and Emory Thornburg and wife Liz; two grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Dalton Thornburg and Whitney Thornburg; one great grandson, Rylan; one great granddaughter, Abby; one brother, Chet Thornburg; one sister, Shirley Good; and several nieces and nephews who were all very special to him.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Orebank Chapel Central Baptist Church, 5776 Orebank Rd., Kingsport, TN. A service to honor the life of Leb Thornburg will follow with Rev. Wayne Baker and Preacher Tim Risner officiating. Music will be provided by Wayne and Janice McNutt, and The Willis Family.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Snyders Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
