Lena Stata Hensley

Lena Stata Hensley, 90, of Kingsport, passed away on August 4, 2017, at Brookdale Colonial Heights. Born April 4, 1927, she graduated from Blountville High School in 1945. Lena worked at AEP (Kingsport Power) for 43 years. She was a member First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Hensley, Jr. whom passed away in 2008; parents, C.R. and Lucy McGuire Stata; sisters, Eunice Stata and Wilma S. Kilgore; nephew, Steve Bedford; and four brothers-in-law.

Lena is survived by her sisters, Inez Bedford Todd and Loretta S. Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Colonial Heights and Amedisys Hospice for taking good care of Lena.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Will Shewey officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Bedford, Ken Bedford, Rick Kilgore, David Kilgore, and Mike Kilgore.
