Leon Johnson

Psalm 121:1-2

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

Leon was born February 18, 1960 to the late Willie and Ola Mae Bryant Johnson. He went to his eternal home unexpectedly at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN on Thursday, January 22, 2015. He was a retired mason, cook and repairman. There was nothing he couldn't do. Leon was a member of Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He was very easy to get along with, and loved meeting new people and joking with the guys.

He was preceded in death by both of his maternal and fraternal grandparents, sister, Francis Wilcox, brothers, James Johnson, Johnny Johnson and Frank Johnson; granddaughter, Tianna Reed; nephew, Keith Johnson; and niece, Melinda Johnson.

Leon is survived by his wife of 9 years, Bridget M. Johnson; children, Kendra Johnson of Kingsport, Leon Johnson Jr., Deondre Oliver of Georgia, Ca'Sondra Johnson of Florida, Mitchell Womack, Patrick Womack, Joy Rance, Shawandé Rance, and Lowandé Rance, all of Kingsport; brothers, Kenneth (Lavada) Johnson, Elijah Johnson, Raymond (Betty) Johnson, and Calvin (Claudette) Johnson, all of Georgia, and Willie (Viveca) Johnson of North Carolina; sister, Juanita Johnson of Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren; special aunt, Catherine Bormus; and special friends, Bob Bullock, James Billheimer, Bill Sexton, Richard Hunt and Harry Watts.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday at Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Mark McDavid officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
