Leona Guy Dorton-Lewis

Leona Guy Dorton-Lewis, 84, of Old Hickory and native of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (March 8, 2014) at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on August 8, 1929, in Kingsport, TN, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Lillian Terry Guy. She graduated from Sullivan High School. Leona was blessed with an amazing voice and started singing at an early age. She continued throughout her life joyously singing for the Lord, and her last performance was on Christmas Eve 2013. She was a homemaker and a member of Sullivan Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was an avid gardener with flower gardens that were works of art.

In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Lewis; brothers, Levi Guy, Jr., Cecil Guy, and Clyde Guy, Sr.; and her sisters, Ethel Toler and Letha Zable.

She is survived by son, Marshall Conkin and wife, Courtney; daughter, Robin Dorton Ford; son, Timothy Dorton and wife, Rita; step-daughter, Shelia Campbell; step-son, Ralph Dorton, Jr. (Buzz) and wife, Cindy; nine grandchildren, Jeffery Stamper and wife, Amber, Levi Stamper and wife, Linda, Benjamin Miller, John Conkin and wife, Carrie, Mary Conkin Mayle and husband, Justin, Vera Conkin Brandon and husband, Matthew, Holly Tafur, Amber Dorton Ashley and husband, Steven, Stephen Dorton, and step-grandson, Jeremy Dorton and wife, Lynn; seventeen great-grandchildren, Noa, Juniper and Violet Stamper, Owen and Sasha Stamper, Caroline Conkin, Jenna and Logan Mayle, Lucas and Reece Brandon, Hannah, Franchescia, Valintina, Bianca and Isabella Tafur, and Greyson and Easton Ashle; sisters, Imogene Guy, Pauline Mullinax and husband, Eugene; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to acknowledge and extend a special thank you to Susan Carla Johnson and husband Darell for their exceptional loving care to Leona during the last eight months of her life.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 12 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Sullivan Baptist Church. The service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery.
