Leota Winstead

Leota was born on April 12, 1925, in Scott County, Virginia. She moved to the Kingsport area as a young girl. She was the daughter of Ezekial Harrin Quillen and Mary Elizabeth Bellamy Quillen. Leota worked at TEC and Parks Belk where she retired. She was a loving mother, step-mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. Leota was a former member of Fall Branch Methodist Church and current member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. Leota loved the Lord and her church family. She took pride in her family tree scrapbook and attended many Quillen Clan Reunions.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gaynes Morrison (1992); her son, Dennis Morrison (2000); granddaughter, Dee Dee Morrison (1991); sister, Opal Quillen Archer; four brothers, Otis, Howard, Corbet, and Everett.

Leota is survived by her husband of 17 years, Marshall Winstead; step-daughter, Kathy and her husband Bill Wilson; step-son David Winstead and wife Connie; one grandson, Zachary Marshall Winstead, daughter-in-law, Jodi Ragsdale; sister-in-law, Willidene Davenport; special caretaker, Lori Davenport, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Higher Ground Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Ronnie Owens officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted on at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Fall Branch United Methodist Church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
