Leroy " Chi Chi" Sutherland

Leroy Sutherland, 65, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. He loved his horses, playing card games, and helping people in the community. He served his country in the US Army.

Mr. Sutherland was preceded in death by his parents, Shuler and Elzada Sutherland; a son, David Lee Sutherland; daughter, Vickie Sutherland; two brothers, Russell Sutherland and Bill Sutherland; and a sister, Velma Jean Breeding.

He is survived by four daughters, Betty Ensor of Kingsport, Selena Sutherland of Kingsport, Tammy Hutson of Kingsport, and Rhonda Hutson of Bristol; three step-children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Ackerman of West Virginia and Mary Dingus and husband Claude of Kingsport; two brothers, Harry Sutherland and wife Rene of Kingsport and Paul D. Sutherland of Kingsport; a special friend of 39 years, Bill Frye; and many more special friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Rev. Donnie Bishop officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday following the funeral at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Kingsport with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 3/265. Pallbearers will be Jerry Mitchell, Larry Mitchell, Junior Stiltner, Tommy Milhorn, William Gragg, Johnny Smith, Eddie Robinson and Jeffrey Crawford.
