Lester Holt

Lester Holt, 87, Kingsport, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Claiborne County, TN on April 11, 1928, a son of the late Clarence and Pearlie Meyers Holt, he had resided in this area most of his life. He graduated from the University of TN, Memphis and was the Director of Pharmacy at Holston Valley Medical Center at his retirement.

Lester was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the 8th Army of Occupation in Japan. He was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, serving as an usher and was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class. Lester was a member of Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Jericho Shrine Temple and volunteered as a long-term care ombudsman, visiting nursing homes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors and SICU at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Lester is survived by his best friend and wife of 65 years, Bobbie Yeary Holt; daughter, Karen Glover of Kingsport; son, Russell Holt of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Erin Glover of Kingsport, and Jared Glover and wife, Jordan of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, MeKenzie Glover and Britton Glover; brother, James Leon Holt and wife, MaryAnn of Cordova, TN; and one niece and one nephew.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5-7:00 pm at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Robert Burlingham officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 10:45 am.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Upper Room Sunday School Class and family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, 631 Lebanon Rd., Kingsport, TN 37663.
