Lou Walters, 67, of Kingsport, died Monday evening, January 28, 2008, following an apparent heart attack.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Lou served his country as a member of the U. S. Army National Guard and retired in 2000 from J. P. Stevens Inc., Borden Plant, after 41 years of service. He was an avid bowler and had several perfect 300 games. In addition, he had played for many industrial softball and basketball leagues in Kingsport. Lou loved the outdoors and enjoyed yard work. He was a Baptist.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emory and Pearl Walters; a brother, Earl Walters; and a sister, Jeanette Ward.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Walters of the home; one daughter, Kristi Loudermilk and husband, Edward of Bluff City; one son, Greg Walters and wife, Lisa, Kingsport; two stepdaughters, Cherie Jessee and husband, Cecil of Kingsport, Denise Harless and husband, Brandon of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Lindsay Loudermilk and Beau Mader; one sister, Betty Burgan and husband, Bill of Mt. Carmel; one brother, Bill Walters and wife, Pauline of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Raymond Hammonds officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
