Lillian Richards East, 89, of Kingsport, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1922 in the Persia community of Hawkins County and moved to Kingsport at an early age. Lillian was a graduate of Blountville High School and a long time member of Stone Drive Methodist Church. She was a precious wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James W. East; daughter, Kathy Lou; parents, David and Kerney Couch Richards; sisters, Annie, Mae, Ruth and Maude; and brothers, George, Dan, Hobert and Ralph.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Gillette and husband Jay of Church Hill; son, John East and wife, Glenda of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Alan East of Richmond, VA, Matthew East and wife, Susan of Augusta, GA, and Eric East and wife, Katie of Seattle, WA; and five great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Nathan, Molly, Mia and Logan, the loves of her life.
The family would like to thank Barbara Hilton for being a special friend and caregiver and would also like to thank the staff and physicians of A500 at HVMC.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 4th, from 5-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and at anytime at the home of her daughter, 104 Cherokee Ave., Church Hill, TN.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 5th, at 2:00 pm at Arcadia Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Larry Browder officiating.
