Lillian Bellamy Solt

Lillian B. Solt, 86, passed on into our Lord's loving arms on Monday, February 27, 2012, in her home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Solt was born in Surgoinsville, TN on October 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Ralph and Grace Bellamy.

Lillian was a graduate of Surgoinsville High School, attended Tusculum College for two years and graduated from East Tennessee State University where she was one of Ella's Angels. After a brief teaching tenure in Fort Walton, FL, she returned to Kingsport teaching in the Sullivan County School System at the original Rock Springs Elementary School and Colonial Heights Middle School for over 30 years before her retirement in 1990. After retirement, Lillian remained active in helping raise her two loving grandchildren.

She was a long-time member of the Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Fern Bellamy; and nephew, Randy Bellamy.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Jennifer Solt, Church Hill, TN, James and Kathy Solt, Piney Flats, TN; grandchildren, Casey and Nick Solt; and niece and nephew, Retta and Brad Overturf, Kingsport, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. with The Rev. Mr. J. Thomas Phillips officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 2, at First United Methodist Church, Surgoinsville, TN.
