Lillian Frances Wooten, 78, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, June 10, 2008, after a brief bout with pancreatic cancer.
She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Mrs. Wooten was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Wooten was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Church Hill since 1961 where she served as a member of the choir, a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and dedicated Prayer Warrior.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Lonnie Steven Wooten, parents, J. Walker Hammonds and Anna Lee Hammonds, brother, Virgile Hammonds and sister-in-law, Marjorie Kilgore.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Lonnie M. "Buddy" Wooten, Jr., of the home; two sons, Joel Wooten and wife Elizabeth, Church Hill, TN; Mark Wooten and wife Pam, Mt. Carmel, TN; four grandson, Jeremy and wife Sarah, Stephen, Andy and John Wooten; two great-granddaughters, Shelby and Nicole Wooten; sister, Carolyn Wagner and husband John, Gray, TN; three brothers, Harold Hammonds, Kingsport, TN; Gene Hammonds and wife Nancy, Church Hill, TN; Bobby Hammonds and wife Linda, Kingsport, TN; sister-in-law, Juanita "Pete" Hammonds, Kingsport, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 4-7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Lonnie M. "Buddy" Wooten Jr. officiating and eulogies by Joel Wooten and Mark Wooten.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
