Linda Diane Akers

Linda Diane Akers, 65, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born November 16, 1948, she lived in Kingsport, TN, most of her life. She was employed by McDonald's as a public relations representative for a number of years. Linda was loved by all who knew her. She was a joy to be around. Linda was always involved with her family and had a special love for her nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Una Myers.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bob Akers of Kingsport, TN; son, Brian Skidmore and wife, Heather, and granddaughter, Hope of New Orleans, LA; brothers, Eddie Myers II and wife, Jane of Johnson City, TN; Richard Myers and wife, Doris of Kingsport, TN, Dennis Myers and wife, Alice of Gray, TN, Tim Myers and wife, Summer of Kingsport, TN; one sister, Teresa Mann and fiancé, Lonnie Beaver of Kingsport, TN; numerous nieces and nephews; special cousin, Harriet Badders of Baltimore, MD; special friends, Mary Coffey, Susan and Tori, Linda Barrett, and Sue Kleven; and her beloved pet, Diesel.

At Linda's request she will be cremated. Friends may call any time at the home of Tim Myers, 3837 Telstar Dr., Kingsport, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Belvue Christian Church, 2700 E. Center St., Kingsport, TN. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. John Owsten, Rev. Robert Burlingham, and Rev. Larry Ball officiating and special music by Rick Steadman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda's honor to the Sullivan County Humane Society, 380 Masengill Rd., Blountville, TN 37617, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
