Linda Catherine (Smith) Barrett

Linda Catherine (Smith) Barrett, age 69, Kingsport, passed on to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Linda was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. She worked many years for Kingsport City Schools as a cafeteria worker striving to provide healthy meals for school children. She continued that endeavor for a number of years working as a public relations associate for McDonalds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle M. Smith, Jr. and Mary Catherine (Ryan) Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elbert P. Barrett and Tennie V. (Dotson) Barrett; and brothers-in-law, Eddie White and David Barrett.

Linda enjoyed her retirement years with her husband of 49 years, Wes Barrett, who survives her. She is also survived by her loving daughter, Melinda (Scott) Johnson of Kingsport; one sister, Sandra White of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Barbara (Mac) Dorton of Church Hill; brother-in-law, Robert Lynn Barrett of Kingsport; and two special nephews, John White of Kingsport and Jason White of Honolulu, Hawaii.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Dustin Allman officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
