Linda Loretta (Fish) Newman

Linda Loretta (Fish) Newman, of Eastern Star, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, with her children by her side.  She was born to the late James and Margaret Fish on February 26, 1947.  She was a member of Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church.  Linda graduated from Sulpher Springs High School in 1965.  

Linda will be remembered for her ability to find treasures in the most unusual places. She was strong-willed and stubborn, but she loved her children and grandchildren like no other. She was a great cook and seamstress and was always ready to share a recipe or pattern.  Even as she slowed down and her health declined, she enjoyed sitting by her window, flipping through cookbooks.  She would frequently call her family to tell them of the daily adventures of deer and rabbits outside her window.  Those morning calls will be missed. 

Linda is survived by her former husband, Angus Newman, Jr.; and their two children, Stacy Newman and wife Sheila and Laura McLain and husband Donald; four grandchildren, Megan McLain-Smith and husband Wesley, Emily McLain, Leah McLain, and Westlyn Newman. She is also survived by her brother, Calvin Fish and wife Terry and their children, Amy Nutter and Dusty Fish.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingsport, TN with Pastor Kevin Rose officiating. For those wishing to attend, please meet at the cemetery by 10:45am.
