Linda Hauk Hawkins

Linda Hauk Hawkins, 80, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Wexford House, Kingsport, after a period of declining health. She was born May 31, 1938, in Kingsport, TN, daughter of E. Ray Hauk and Evelyn Steiner Hauk. Linda graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and the University of Tennessee in 1960 with a B.S. in Education. While there she was very active in her beloved sorority Delta Delta Delta and became an avid Tennessee football fan. She began her career teaching before moving to Eastman Kodak where she worked as a Product Correspondent. While there, she was selected to work at the 1965 World's Fair in New York City. After leaving Eastman, she became a devoted mother and wife and became an active volunteer in many organizations including Junior League of Kingsport and numerous PTA boards. She was also a member of the Kingsport Garden Club, which just celebrated 80 years of service. She enjoyed her bridge club and birthday club with many long-time friends. Linda loved music including singing in and choreographing many shows throughout her life. Crafting and sewing also brought her much happiness.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Missy) Hawkins Dillon and husband Craig of Kingsport; and a grandson, Brayden Harris Dillon.
A family interment will be conducted Thursday, August 30, 2018, at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Randy Frye and Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating. The family will receive friends at the home following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 East Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660, or to the Kingsport Animal Shelter, 2141 Idle Hour Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
