Linda Sue Swisher

KINGSPORT - Linda Sue Swisher, 74, of Kingsport, passed away at home Tuesday, December 18, 2018. She was born on September 14, 1944 and raised in Lancaster, OH, and spent most of her adult life in Cookeville and Kingsport, TN. She graduated from Tennessee Tech University with highest honors in secondary education in English and history, and taught English as a second language for 15 years. Linda was active as the president of the TTU Women's Faculty Club and president of Cookeville Tree Board. She was a wonderful and loving daughter, wife, mother, nana and sister. She enjoyed taking care of her family, teaching her students and working in her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Slater; and sister, Kay Shonk.
Linda is survived by her husband and life companion of 54 years, George M. Swisher; sister, Sheri Grygier; her daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Patrick Harnetty; grandchildren, Lauren and Christopher Harnetty.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, 2018, from 4-6pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport, TN.
