Lochiel Thornburg Staten, 91, of Gray, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Lakebridge Nursing Home following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was employed by Magnavox of Greeneville. Following her retirement, she was an active member of the Johnson City Senior Citizens Group where she enjoyed singing with the musical voices.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Staten; parents, Fred and Mary Thornburg; two sisters, Lucille Walker and infant sister, Helen; four brothers, Denzil, Laverne, Paul, and A.J. Thornburg; and granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Morrison Parton.
She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Parton and husband Charles; two grandsons, David Parton and wife Emily, and Greg Parton; six great- grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Howard Thornburg and wife, Peggy, and Dwayne Thornburg and wife, Tammy; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Simpson and Patsy Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating.
Pallbearers will be David Parton, Greg Parton, Phillip Parton, Chandler Parton, Evan Jones, and Tanner Tranbarger. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Haren, Dale Haren, Buster Haren, Lynn Haren, Sam Haren, and Danny Jones.
