Lois O. Bowery, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her loving family by her side early on Thursday morning, July 19, 2012. Lois was born January 30, 1929, the only child of Walter and Alpha Smith Berkley.
She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and could make anything grow. Lois loved to crochet and made many beautiful afghans and blankets that she shared with her friends and family. She was a wonderful cook, making holiday meals that her entire family looked forward to attending.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Roy Allen "Butch" Bowery.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Ed Bowery; sons, Richard E. Bowery and wife, Sandra, and J. Mark Bowery and wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Andrew Bowery, Caroline and Tyler Cabell, and Austin "AJ" Bowery.
At Lois' request, there will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. James W. Lindsay officiating. Those wishing to attend are requested to be at the graveside 15 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of her son, Mark, 3713 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport. TN.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Bowery, Austin "AJ" Bowery, Tyler Cabell, Gary Free, R.L. Bowery and Willard Bowery.
